Description or Application? Keep Two Bible Reading Notes Separate
Use two columns so an observation about what the passage says remains distinct from a personal response about what you may do. Both can matter, but they answer different questions.

Write description first
Record people, actions, setting, repeated ideas, and stated reasons with verse references. Do not add 'therefore I should' until the description column is complete.
Place observable movements and explicit statements in the first column, then write a possible response in the second. Label any theological synthesis or modern application as interpretation or application rather than as the passage's wording.
Take a note that turns a personal lesson into a universal promise. Remove unsupported certainty, restore the passage boundary, and write a response that is honest about whose situation it addresses.
Each answer needs evidence in the description field and a clearly labelled response in the application field. If no safe application is ready, 'continue observing' is a valid next step.
