Reading orientation
Copy the unit’s context
Write the verse, unit, object, and action around it. A denarius used in a story is not automatically a wage calculator for every passage; a talent in a parable is not a modern weight without a stated conversion.

Text observation
Separate three evidence levels
Use text explicit, source explanation, and modern estimate as separate rows. If a source gives a range, preserve the range. If no reliable conversion is available for your question, leave the value unknown.

Original practice
Ask the right research question
Instead of asking ‘How much is this exactly?’, ask what the unit does in the scene, which ancient system is under discussion, and which source supports a proposed range. A study aid can clarify uncertainty rather than conceal it.

Context check
Complete five judgement prompts
For each example decide: text unit present, object named, conversion needed, source checked, and conclusion safe. Do not turn a rough estimate into a doctrinal or financial promise.
