Day 67 · Psalms 141:1–4 · Berean Standard Bible
A guard over my words
Sometimes we realize too late that our words have joined the very harm we wanted to resist. This psalm lets us ask for help earlier. The speaker brings both lips and heart into prayer, because restraint at the mouth and attention to desire belong together. You do not need incense or a formal setting to begin. Before a difficult exchange, a short request for truthful, careful words may give you a useful moment to pause.
Psalms 141:1–4
1 A Psalm of David. I call upon You, O LORD; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to You.
2 May my prayer be set before You like incense; my uplifted hands, like the evening offering.
3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
4 Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil thing or take part in works of wickedness with men who do iniquity; let me not feast on their delicacies.
