Day 80 · Hebrews 12:1–3 · Berean Standard Bible

Keep looking to Jesus

At the end of these twenty readings, the invitation is not to prove how far you have come. Hebrews turns attention toward Jesus. The people remembered in chapter 11 had very different outcomes, so an easy life is not the measure of faith. Nor is pain a goal to pursue. The race picture invites a steady next step, with honesty about what entangles us and with hope that reaches beyond our own strength.

Hebrews 12:1–3

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.

2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
