Six practice cases

  1. Hebrew Psalm 8 → Greek: write the number and the applicable table row.

  2. Greek Psalm 9, complete → Hebrew: record the full corresponding material.

  3. Hebrew Psalm 51 → Greek: show which range you used.

  4. Greek Psalm 113, complete → Hebrew: explain why a simple plus-one rule is insufficient.

  5. Hebrew Psalm 116:10–19 → Greek: identify this portion and the Greek coverage of the complete Hebrew psalm.

  6. Hebrew Psalm 147:12–20 → Greek; then convert Hebrew 148. Explain the boundary.

Answer guide

  1. Greek 8: the 1–8 row is unchanged.

  2. Hebrew Psalms 9 and 10: both belong in a full lookup.

  3. Greek 50: Hebrew 51 lies in Hebrew 11–113 / Greek 10–112.

  4. Hebrew Psalms 114 and 115: Greek 113 corresponds to both.

  5. The portion is Greek 115; the whole Hebrew 116 spans Greek 114 and 115. Do not assume matching verse numbers without checking the target edition.

  6. The portion is Greek 147; Hebrew 148 is Greek 148. Hebrew 147:1–11 is Greek 146, and both systems use 148–150 at the end of this table.
